Project: Middle Tennessee Medical Center
Location: Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC) is a private, not-for-profit hospital located in the fastest growing city in Tennessee. Situated in a high-humidity region, the hospital required an effective moisture management system for the interior and exterior walls to protect it from mold growth and other moisture damage that could compromise the health of patients and the structural integrity of the building.
Nashville architectural firm Gresham Smith and Partners was hired to design the expansive new facility, along with general contractor Turner Universal as the builder. The crew installed CertainTeed GlasRoc Exterior Sheathing to provide protection during construction. CertainTeed Moisture & Mold Resistant Drywall with M2Tech, paired with CertainTeed CertaPro fiber glass insulation, met the challenge for enhanced moisture resistance on the walls.
MTMC is a 556,36-square-foot structure that sits on a 68.5-acre medical campus with two towers. It houses 286 private patient rooms; 32 intensive care unit beds; a 21,000-square-foot emergency department with 40 exam rooms; 27 post-partum rooms and 11 delivery rooms; and a surgical suite with 10 operating rooms.
