FlintBond® Caulk is an all-weather, SBS-modified bitumen flashing and repair mastic specially formulated for use with modified bitumen membranes, base sheets, and ply sheets. When used as a flashing cement, it is ideal for SBS-modified membranes seam and flashing details and cracks in concrete or control joints on low-slope roofs, as well as skylights, chimneys, vent pipes, gravel guards and down spouts on shingle roofs. FlintBond also delivers excellent repair performance on all modified bitumen and built-up roofing membranes in wet or dry conditions; it will bond underwater and will remain adhered where movement is expected to occur. FlintBond will not run, slip, sag, or mud crack. Formulated with superior high-temperature resistance, it will remain durable in high-heat locations such as heater vent pipes. FlintBond is not recommended for use on shingles.

Installation

All surfaces must have proper drainage and be clean, dry, and free of surface rust and any other foreign matter. Excessive particulate surfacing materials on modified membranes must be removed (sweeping with a stiff broom is recommended) prior to application. For best results in cold weather, store at room temperature for 24 hours prior to application. Protective clothing and eyewear should be used during application of this product. Cut nipple on cartridge and cut spout to desired bead size at 45º angle, and load cartridge into caulking gun; apply mastic firmly into void or seam to provide solid fill. If desired, spread with trowel or putty knife, working material to an even consistency over and into the area to be sealed or repaired at a target 1/8”-1/4” thickness. If the problem area is over ¼” wide or 2” long, embed asphalt-saturated or open-weave fiberglass fabric to reinforce cement, then cover with additional mastic at prescribed thickness. Clean tools with mineral spirits or paint thinner.
