CertainTeed Canada introduces Lanaé, a new insulation technology with high-recycled content and bio-sourced binder

Vancouver, BC – Friday, June 13, 2025 – On Thursday, June 12, at Saint-Gobain Canada’s Vancouver Architectural Symposium, CertainTeed Canada announced the Canadian launch of Lanaé, its groundbreaking sustainable glass fibre insulation. As a North American first, this latest worldwide-proven innovation by Saint-Gobain is deployed in Canada following a thorough R&D process of customer-centric improvements based directly on Canadian needs.

Manufactured at CertainTeed’s insulation facilities in Redcliff, AB, and Ottawa, ON, Lanaé insulation represents a leap forward in sustainable building practices. It is formulated with a bio-based binder that is formaldehyde-free, significantly reducing environmental impact while maintaining superior thermal performance and acoustic comfort.

Lanaé's introduction in Canada follows extensive testing, certification processes, and collaboration across global Saint-Gobain teams, leveraging international expertise to ensure the product meets the highest standards of quality and sustainability. Key benefits of Lanaé insulation includes:

  • Better for the planet – Featuring up to 82% recycled content and a bio-sourced renewable binder, Lanaé insulation significantly reduces carbon footprint. It supports a circular economy, with production waste recycled into the Ultratherm regrind insulation product.
  • Better for installers – Lanaé insulation offers reduced dust, odourless installation, and improved handling, recovery, and rigidity. New packaging enhancements, including grey bags for steel stud applications and clearer installation instructions, simplify identification and handling for installers and warehouse staff.
  • Better for families - Formulated without formaldehyde, Lanaé prioritizes the comfort and well-being of Canadian households while enhancing energy efficiency and acoustic performance.
