Drive down US 54 through Wichita, Kansas, and you''''re bound to notice the Wichita Transit System -- or at least its roof. "We wanted a high performance roof system that could withstand a beating," says Michael Vinson, Assistant General Manager, Wichita Transit System. "We also wanted something that was aesthetically pleasing and fire resistant." Nearly 450 squares of the roof utilized a CertainTeed Flintlastic® FR-P SBS Modified Bitumen system. To complete the roof system, CertainTeed’s Flexiglas™ FR Base Sheet, a layer of Flintglas™ Ply Sheet Type IV, and a layer of Flintlastic FR-P Modified Bitumen Cap Sheet were installed using hot asphalt. “We chose Flintlastic FR-P cap sheet in Weatherstone, an attractive gray color, to enhance the appearance of the roof,” Walty says.
