Sandcastle Suites Hotel at Cedar Point Sandusky, OH Products:

The management of popular Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, decided it was time for new siding at one of its two on-site hotels, Sandcastle Suites. The building’s original siding system was allowing excessive water leakage through the exterior walls, causing a host of moisture-related problems.

While researching replacement siding options, Ross was approached by Sharon Feeley, Fiber Cement Product Specialist for Toledo building products distributor Lumbermen’s Inc., who recommended CertainTeed® WeatherBoards™ FiberCement Siding. Impressed with what the product had to offer, Ross specified WeatherBoards 7 1/4" lap siding and 4' x 8' vertical siding in custom pre-finished colors for the three-story hotel's four separate wings.

Beginning in December 2006, contractor Adena Corporation, of Mansfield, Ohio, installed the WeatherBoards Fiber Cement Siding, which was supplied by Gordon Lumber, of Huron, Ohio. Because of Sandcastle Suites’ location on the shores of Lake Erie, the siding crew fought bad winter weather much of the way, finishing the job in April and beating their deadline by a month. As Cedar Point is a seasonal amusement park, Sandcastle Suites remains open between May and October each year. Ross says he and Cedar Point management are pleased with the new look WeatherBoards siding gives to Sandcastle Suites.
