Ty Pennington’s “First to the Future Home” is Must-See Web TV
Bookmark this: “First to the Future Home.” It’s a must-see show. Hosted by Ty Pennington and produced for NextGen Home TV, the webisode series takes viewers on an entertaining journey featuring step-by-step, state-of-the-art home construction.
Pennington, who is best known as the host of the popular ABC TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” uses the online platform to show viewers how to make a home energy efficient, weather resistant, healthy and smart. His perspective, focused on the build of one not-so-ordinary house in Florida, offers food for thought on how we can build or retrofit any home with a mindset to best serve its occupants — today and well into the future. As a recognizable advocate for thoughtful design and construction, I think Pennington really hits the nail on the head with this project.
Like Pennington, I think a home is much more than just a place to sleep, which is why I am so excited that CertainTeed was one of the many contributors to this effort. Of course, I’m especially partial to Interiors Episode 22: “This Wallboard Can Help Remove Formaldehyde from the Air and Make the House Quieter” — where he focuses on CertainTeed’s IAQ and acoustic drywall and tile backer. These are just a few of the future-thinking products used as part of this sustainable series. In fact, throughout the series Pennington demonstrates how materials ranging from solar thermal systems to eco-friendly countertops can help create a truly sustainable, next-generation home.
The finale just wrapped, so all of the “First to the Future Home” episodes are viewable online for your binge-watching pleasure. I think you will like what you see and will also learn a few tricks to healthy design and construction. Happy viewing!
