New CertainTeed Restoration Millwork® Cortex® Hidden Fastening System Delivers a Smarter Way to Install Exterior Trim

(Valley Forge, Pa.) – By delivering the easiest, most effective method available for installing cellular PVC trim, the Restoration Millwork® Cortex® Hidden Fastening System further strengthens CertainTeed’s position as a single source for exterior building solutions. The specially engineered system eliminates the need for the labor-intensive and imperfect process of driving multiple nails, caulking holes, sanding and painting. Cortex fasteners also offer a stronger connection, with higher withdrawal values than nails.

“We are excited to introduce this tailor-made, smarter solution for Restoration Millwork trim installation,” said Matt Gibson, director of channel marketing for the CertainTeed Siding Products Group. “Our collaboration with FastenMaster, the manufacturer of the Cortex Hidden Fastening System, demonstrates our continuing dedication to being a high quality, one-stop-shop.”

The Restoration Millwork Cortex Hidden Fastening System is designed for use with Restoration Millwork PVC trim in thicknesses of 5/8- to 5/4-inch. Each package includes all of the recommended fasteners, plugs and setting tools and is available in 50, 250 and 750 lineal foot packages. Fasteners can be used with Restoration Millwork in both smooth and TrueTexture™ finishes and can be painted if desired.

The system can be installed using a standard 18-volt cordless impact drill, setting the fastener perpendicular to the trimboard using the custom setting tool and driving it in. The simple process is finished by setting the Restoration Millwork cellular PVC trim plug into the hole, then gently tapping it until it is flush with the trimboard. Once applied, Cortex concealed fasteners are almost invisible to ensure a precise, beautifully finished look.

The Restoration Millwork full line of trim, beadboard and accessories is engineered to look, feel and work like top-grade lumber. Unlike wood, however, it is made with a long-lasting, low-maintenance material that is resistant to UV rays, rotting, warping, moisture and insects. Offered in Natural White finish, Restoration Millwork can also be painted to complement exterior colors and cut using ordinary woodworking tools and features a Class A (Class 1) flame spread classification and 25-year limited warranty.
