GlasRoc® Tile Backer is a gypsum tile substrate panel for walls and ceilings, specially formulated with a water-resistant core to meet the demands of high-moisture areas. For greater convenience, GlasRoc Tile Backer allows you to apply tile using thinset or mastic compounds.

Valued for its mold resistance, it is well-suited for tile and non-tile installations in wet and non-wet applications, and in areas of high humidity. It also offers excellent fire-resistance properties, and can be used in numerous fire-rated designs and assemblies.

Available in 1/2" (12.7 mm) and 5/8" (15.9 mm) thicknesses. See the Technical Info table below for available widths and lengths. GlasRoc Tile Backer is up to 30 percent lighter in weight than conventional cement backer boards. It cuts like regular gypsum panels, is easy to handle and install, and offers reduced surface alkalinity versus conventional cement board.

• 5/8” GlasRoc Tile Backer (Type X) features a specially formulated core for use in UL and ULC fire resistance-rated designs

• Achieves best possible score of 10 for mold resistance per ASTM D3273

GlasRoc® Tile Backer and GlasRoc® Tile Backer Type X Panels are used in wet, non-wet, or high-humidity areas. These panels are typically used for adhering ceramic tiles to walls in bathrooms, shower and tub enclosure walls, kitchens, laundry rooms, and utility rooms. The GlasRoc Tile Backer Panels are designed to be used for walls, ceilings, and countertop applications.
