Construction Industry Pros Gather for the 2018 Business Building Workshops
Taking a look at highlights from the events in Atlantic City, NJ and Washington, D.C.
In January, CertainTeed hosted our annual Business Building Workshops in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Washington D.C., where participants from across the construction industry – including contractors, builders, distributors and architects – joined their colleagues in a variety of seminars, luncheons and product demonstrations. Over 500 participants came out to the events in Atlantic City, NJ and Washington, D.C.
There were 16 different seminars to choose from, and participants had the opportunity to attend multiple classes throughout the day. The seminars included product knowledge classes, where participants learned installation tips and best practices for many different CertainTeed products, including three of the newest siding innovations: ICON™ Composite Siding, STONEfaçade™ Architectural Stone Cladding System and Cedar Impressions® Shakes and Shingles. The fence seminars were big hits as well, as outdoor living spaces which are becoming more important to homeowners.
Participants also had the chance to learn how to grow their businesses through sales and marketing classes. Sandler presented a session on their in-home sales training methods, which includes proven strategies for selling to today’s consumers. They also had the chance to learn about Qualified Remodeler’s research on customer satisfaction “Hot Buttons,” as well as various digital estimating tools they can use to create quicker estimates for their customers.
As part of the events, CertainTeed held raffles: For every hour of class participation, attendees earned a ticket to enter into the random drawings. Several lucky winners won prizes, including Coolest Coolers, Sandler Sales Training $500 Certificates, Bose® SoundSport Pulse Wireless Headsets, CertainTeed CustomerConnections™ social media campaign packages from our PR team and SnapQuote® Spike Devices with a bag of 25 jobs.
This year’s attendees gave the events high praise, calling them “very informative, very organized” events that were “very worthwhile.” A majority of participants rated the events overall as “excellent” and many of the workshops were deemed to have “exceeded expectations.”
In a follow-up from last year’s survey, 73% of 2017 attendees felt the workshop helped them grow their sales by greater than 5% in and 87% felt it helped improve their installation efficiency. We are excited to hear how our 2018 participants benefit in the year ahead.
