CertainTeed Joins Forces with Minor’s Fences and Homes for Our Troops
A retired Army sergeant gets a new lease on life thanks to the combined generosity of CertainTeed Bufftech and a Virginia fence dealer.
CertainTeed Bufftech and Minor’s Fences are helping to rebuild the life of a severely injured Iraq War Veteran through their partnership on a Homes For Our Troops construction project.
Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a national non-profit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post 9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. For the past eight years, CertainTeed has sponsored this worthwhile organization through donations of our high-quality building materials, including roofing, insulation, drywall and siding products.
In the company’s latest show of support for our nation’s heroes, CertainTeed teamed with Minor’s Fences of Ashland, Virginia, to donate fence materials and installation costs for the home of retired Army Sergeant James “JP” McGuire, Jr., a combat engineer who lost his right leg when he stepped on an improvised explosive device in Tunnis, Iraq. Thanks to the support of HFOT and its corporate partners and donors, Sergeant McGuire, his wife and their two children moved into a brand-new, fully accessible home in Mechanicsville, Virginia, in August 2017.
CertainTeed supplied 475 square feet of Bufftech’s New Lexington privacy fence in White along with two walk gates and a 10 ft. double gate, while Minor’s Fences provided the labor for the installation.
“When we learned that CertainTeed generously offered to donate the material, we decided that we would donate our time to complete the installation,” said Minor Hairfield, owner of Minor’s Fences, a professional fence dealer that’s been serving the Richmond, Virginia area for more than 25 years. “Like CertainTeed, we are proud supporters of our military Veterans and were delighted to give back to such a well-deserving Serviceman and his family.”
A CertainTeed customer since 2012, Minor’s is a huge fan of Bufftech vinyl fence, particularly Bufftech’s CertaGrain® woodgrain textured fence. “It’s an excellent product, and we’re selling more and more of it,” Hairfield reported. “When you show customers the difference between Bufftech and other products, there’s no comparison. Bufftech fence stands head and shoulders above the rest.”
Terry Walker, officer manager at Minor’s Fences, gives Bufftech high marks for both product quality and the level of service. “Our sales rep, Matt Richardson, is awesome. He gets me the samples I need and helps me with placing large orders.”
Walker added, “When I call customer service in Buffalo, Jim Atkinson answers the phone 99% of the time, so I get a live voice on the line rather than going to voicemail. You don’t get that type of service with a lot of companies.”
“It’s a pleasure doing business with Bufftech and partnering with them on such a great initiative like Homes For Our Troops,” said Hairfield.
