Flintlastic® FR Cap 30 T CoolStar™

CertainTeed Flintlastic FR Cap 30 T CoolStar is a fire rated, glass mat cap sheet used in two-ply or multi-layer modified bitumen fire rated roofing systems. It is designed for use as a cap sheet over inorganic and organic built-up roofing systems. It is surfaced with ceramic granules and a flexible acrylic-based CoolStar coating, and is reinforced with a tough fibrous glass fabric. Easy to Install...the CoolStar coating is factory applied by CertainTeed, so there is no need for post-installation, on-site coating. Installing a CoolStar-coated roof surface product is a one-step process, and touch-up can occur immediately after.

CertainTeed Flintlastic FR Cap 30 T CoolStar is intended for torch application. Rolls should be stored upright, off ground, completely protected from the weather. Roof decks shall be structurally sound, dry, smooth and meet or exceed minimum requirements of the deck manufacturer, local code and CertainTeed.

CoolStar-coated roofing products are more energy-efficient than standard roofing products and exceed ENERGY STAR standards.

To meet ENERGY STAR standards, a low slope roofing surface must have a solar reflectivity of .65 (meaning it reflects 65% of the radiation away from the surface and absorbs 35%).

In general, an ENERGY STAR-labeled product can help reduce energy costs by as much as 30%.

The state of California has an even tougher requirement for a "cool" or energy-saving roof called Title24.  To comply, a low slope roofing surface must have an initial solar reflectivity of .70 and thermal emittance of .75.  CoolStar-coated roofing products surpass both of these important, industry-recognized standards.

All CoolStar cap sheets have initial ratings for solar reflectance and thermal emittance from the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC).
