Flintlastic® GTA CoolStar™

CertainTeed Flintlastic GTA CoolStar is designed for use as a roofing membrane over various types of substrates for both new construction and reroofing installations. It is suitable for most low sloped roof decks and may be used for roof system flashings including wall treatments, base flashings and field flashings. Flintlastic GTA CoolStar has initial ratings for solar reflectance of 0.74 and thermal emittance of 0.88 from the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC). It also exceeds initial ENERGY STAR® and California Title 24 Standards.

Easy to Install...the CoolStar coating is factory applied by CertainTeed, so there is no need for post-installation, on-site coating. Installing a CoolStar-coated roof surface product is a one-step process, and touch-up can occur immediately after.

CertainTeed Flintlastic GTA CoolStar is produced with a high performance, non-woven polyester mat which is impregnated and coated with a superior grade, modified bitumen compound, and surfaced with a flexible, acrylic-based CoolStar coating.

Flintlastic GTA CoolStar has an initial rating from the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) for solar reflectance at 0.74 and thermal emittance of 0.88.

CertainTeed Flintlastic GTA CoolStar is intended for torch application only and should not be exposed to adhesives or solvent based materials. Rolls should be stored upright, off ground, completely protected from the weather. Roof decks shall be structurally sound, dry, smooth and meet or exceed minimum requirements of the deck manufacturer, local code and CertainTeed.

Owners and specifiers who choose the NDL or Integrity Coverage warranty options have the added security of manufacturer involvement in the sometimes difficult process of contractor qualifying and workmanship inspection. CoolStar exceeds initial ENERGY STAR® and California Title 24 standards.

CoolStar-coated roofing products are more energy-efficient than standard roofing products and exceed initial ENERGY STAR standards.

To meet ENERGY STAR standards, a low slope roofing surface must have a solar reflectivity of .65 (meaning it reflects 65% of the radiation away from the surface and absorbs 35%).

In general, an ENERGY STAR-labeled product can help reduce energy costs by at least 30%.

The state of California has an even tougher requirement for a "cool" or energy-saving roof called Title24.  To comply, a low slope roofing surface must have an initial solar reflectivity of .70 and thermal emittance of .75.  CoolStar-coated roofing products surpass both of these important, industry-recognized standards.

All CoolStar cap sheets have initial ratings for solar reflectance and thermal emittance from the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC).
