Certa-Lok™ Slotted PVC Well Casing & Underdrain

Certa-Lok™ pipe provides a restrained joint by utilizing precision-machined grooves on the pipe and in the coupling/integral bell which, when aligned, allow a spline to be inserted, resulting in a fully circumferential restrained joint that locks the pipes together. A flexible elastomeric seal (O-ring) in the coupling and/or integral bell provides a hydraulic seal.

Note: If needed, the joint can be disassembled and re-used to allow for system changes, extension or removal for re-use. Certa-Lok™ joints can be easily disassembled, allowing for system changes, extension, movement or reuse of the entire system.

CertainTeed, an industry leader in high-quality and performance PVC well products also produces slotted well casing with open areas and efficiencies that rival those of comparable material screens, often at a fraction of the cost. A wide selection of precision-machined factory slot designs (.010" - .125") with closely spaced inlet openings provides for uniform development over the length of the screen and proper stabilization of the gravel pack.

Long Life

Well rehabilitation costs are minimized, as PVC screens are inherently more resistant than conventional steel products to clogging and encrustation. PVC also outperforms stainless steel in highly corrosive environments, at a fraction of the cost. All screens are manufactured from PVC casing that is listed by NSF International as safe for use with potable water.

UNDERDRAIN PIPE

Slotted PVC casing is also ideal for use as underdrain pipe. Applications include, but are not limited to Leachate collection systems for solid waste landfills, drainage and dewatering applications as well as mining heap leach projects. Special heavy-wall products such as SDR13.5 (and thicker) are also available.

PVC underdrain pipe is supplied with precision-machined slots, which provide greater intake capacity and continuous, clog-resistant drainage of fluids, as compared to standard round-hole perforated pipe. Slotted underdrain reduces entrance velocity into the pipe, thereby reducing the possibility that solids will be carried into the system.

Slot rows can generally be positioned symmetrically or asymmetrically around the pipe circumference, depending upon the appliction. Outside diameters are generally the same for PVC and non-corrugated polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. NOTE: HDPE pipe must be extruded with a thicker wall to obtain a comparable stiffness rating, thus resulting in a reduced cross-sectional flow area.

Standard pipe color for Water Well applications is WHITE.
