ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Board, ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Type X and ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Type C Gypsum Boards are used for the underside of eaves, carport ceilings, canopies and other commercial and residential exterior applications with indirect exposure to the weather. ProRoc® Soffit Type X and Type C Board provides the same base as ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Board, plus has a specially formulated core for use in fire resistance-rated designs.

Both products consist of a solid set gypsum core covered with durable water-resistant backing paper. ProRoc® Exterior and ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Type X and Type C Boards are available in a variety of lengths.

ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Board meets ASTM C 1396
Composition and Materials: ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Type X is manufactured panels with gypsum cores, covered with durable, water-resistant backing paper. ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Type X also contains various aggregates to enhance its fire-resistive qualities.

Exposed areas of ProRoc® Soffit Board shall be sealed with exterior primer and one coat of exterior paint; other procedures are same as for interior ceiling installation.

Recommendations:
Installation of ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Board and ProRoc® Exterior Soffit Type X and Type C Board should be consistent with methods described in the standards and references noted. Soffit Boards must be horizontal or sloping downward away from building. Framing should be no more than 16" o.c. for 1/2" (12.7mm) thick Soffit Board, nor more than 24" o.c. for 5/8" (15.9mm) board. Suitable fascias and moldings should be provided around the perimeter to protect the Soffit Board from direct exposure to water.

• The face and back paper used for our gypsum board consists of 100% recycled paper.
• Synthetic or “by-product” gypsum from the desulphurization of flue gases at coal-fired power plants is used where sources are available. Currently three manufacturing plants—Carrollton, Kentucky, Moundsville, West Virginia and Toronto, Ontario—use 100% synthetic gypsum. The total recycled content for these synthetic gypsum plants is 96%.
• In-plant scrap is recycled back into the process. Our 14 gypsum board manufacturing locations provide regional material coverage throughout North America.
• Although LEED rating systems do not currently address emissions for all building materials and their effects on indoor air quality, finished CertainTeed gypsum board products have no reportable VOCs and will not affect indoor air quality.
