What is the correct handling and storage procedure for GlasRoc® Sheathing products?

CertainTeed recommends the following handling and storage guidelines for its GlasRoc® Sheathing products.

  • Upon receipt of shipments, uncover the units from their delivery packaging for inspection and warehouse storage.
  • Store units on a flat, dry surface in an area that protects it from adverse weather conditions, condensation, and other sources of moisture.
  • The units shall be supported using risers constructed from strips of GlasRoc®, paper faced gypsum board, wood or plastic. The dimensions of the risers shall be 4 inches wide by 3 inches high by 48 inches long.
  • Stacks may be up to, but not exceeding 8 units high.

The following table indicates the recommended riser placement for GlasRoc® Sheathing units:

GlasRoc® Board Size Number of Risers Horizontal Spacing
4' x 8' 6 16" o.c. +/- 1"
4' x 9' 6 18" o.c. +/- 1"
4' x 10' 7 17" o.c. +/- 1"
4' x 12' 7 20.5" o.c. +/- 1"
Note: Riser spacing shall not exceed 28" o.c.

To prevent the product from sagging, the risers must be vertically aligned within +/- 1" variation.

Minor alterations in the location of risers may be required for forklift spacing. If this is necessary, vertical alignment
between the stacks must be maintained to insure proper weight distribution in the unit stacks. The maximum
horizontal spacing between risers shall not exceed the values in the table above.
