In today’s world, as we see the rapid growth in global population, agriculture becomes more important to meet the needs of the human race. However, agriculture requires irrigation, and with every year we have more water consumption than rainfall, it becomes critical for growers to find ways to conserve water while still achieving the highest yield that meets the industry quality standards. That is why the selection of an irrigation method is very important. The benefits of agricultural irrigation and agricultural irrigation techniques can be summarized under three broad categories; Flood, Drip and Sprinkler.
Flood irrigation literally floods the field with water. This is the oldest but the most water consuming irrigation method. Due to its low cost, this method is still widely used in less developed countries as well as in the U.S.A. This method results in only half of the water being consumed by the crops.
Drip irrigation uses a plastic pipe with holes either buried or laid along the rows of crops. This method reduces evaporation and is more efficient, though it cannot be used on all crops. Water savings of up to 25% are possible compared to flood irrigation. Certa-Lok™ Main Line is an ideal product for supplying water to a drip irrigation system. Certa-Lok Main Line is suitable for use with the AIM Golden Retriever, which makes pipe installation and retrieval in the field a simple task for grower.
