CertainTeed is pleased to join the green building program, EarthCraft House™, for Coastal Living and Cottage Living’s Holiday Coastal Cottage Idea Home. CertainTeed''s FiberCement Siding and Restoration Millwork™ were chosen for exterior cladding on the 3,580 square-foot home. The Idea Home is located in Bluffton, S.C.

The Holiday Coastal Cottage Idea Home was built to the standards of EarthCraft House, a voluntary green building program for the Southeastern region of the United States. The program serves as a standard for healthy, comfortable homes that reduce utility bills and protect the environment.

EarthCraft House builds high-performance, durable and resource-efficient homes, which can result in energy savings up to 30 percent. For a home to be certified through EarthCraft House, the builder participates in a design review, submits a worksheet following an EarthCraft House point system and allows independent third-party inspections for certification once the building is complete. Builders using CertainTeed WeatherBoards will earn seven points towards certification, compared to the three points with other national fiber cement manufacturers.
