Residential New Construction
Case Study No.3:
New Home Builder in West
Chester, California
Project Highlights:
The homeowners found fiber cement siding on the Internet and inquired about it at a local lumberyard in Northern California. They saw samples, then toured the WeatherBoards plant in White City, OR and visited the prefinisher. The builder was selected for his meticulous work. The home is a 6,000+ square foot “showplace” that virtually sits atop a mountain near Lake Almanor. Certainteed WeatherBoards siding is well-suited to the mountainous Northern California winter-summer weather cycles. Also, visitors find it hard to believe the home is not sided with stained cedar.
Products Used:
• WeatherBoards 8-1/4" Cedar Lap Siding
• FiberTect™-sealed
• Machine-prefinished with Woodperfect® Fiber Cement Coating (Redwood #6703)
• All trim, railings, etc. are cedar

Case Study No.4:
New Construction in Southeast
Southeastern, North Carolina
Project Highlights:
The private community where this 3,600 square foot home is located has an architectural review committee that establishes standards for all new homes. The committee tightly restricts the types of siding materials that may be used. WeatherBoards siding, by name, is the group’s approved brand of lap siding. The CertainTeed WeatherBoards siding on this home was face-nailed by the contracted installer. Because this private community is in close proximity to the coast, storms and high winds are always a possibility. In areas such as this, face-nailing of fiber cement siding is often preferred by installers, and may be frequently required by building codes as well. This owner enjoys the rich appearance of cedar siding, plus the low maintenance of WeatherBoards.
Products Used:
• WeatherBoards™ 7-1/2" Cedar Lap Siding
• FiberTect™-sealed
• Field-painted with recommended topcoat
• Corner trim is composite
• Columns and shutters are molded polymer
• Soffit is CertainTeed vinyl
Builder: Self-contracted by owner
